Replace faulty sink and cracked countertop in Wellness Center

Initiative TitleReplace faulty sink and cracked countertop in Wellness Center
Submitted in Previous Year(s)No
Critical Information, Notes, Justification, Rationale

For the past several years, we have continued to have issues with the sink in our main space. This sink is vital, because students use it for tasks like washing out cuts and other medical reasons. The sink continually backs up, the water does not get hot (only lukewarm), and the faucet is faulty and does not always work. The drain area is rusted. We have put in several work orders over the years, but the consensus is that it would need to be replaced.

In addition, the countertop surrounding the sink is cracked in several places, including the corner, where the jagged piece catches on clothes as people walk by.

At least two or three times per week, students, staff, and faculty complain about the sink area.

Consequences of this initiative not being funded

Students and staff will continue to struggle with a backed-up sink, lukewarm water to clean cuts and scrapes, and a faulty faucet. In addition, the countertop will continue to snag on clothes, and the fissures and cracks in the countertop may grow.
