Scholarships and Incentives

Initiative TitleScholarships and Incentives
Submitted in Previous Year(s)2011
Critical Information, Notes, Justification, Rationale

Provide all students in program with money to cover costs while attending SUNY Orange. This will increase program enrollment, make recruiting easier, attract higher quality students, and provide them opportunities to focus on academic work not working to pay for college.

We are willing to reduce the size of the program a bit to provide all students with scholarship money.

Consequences of this initiative not being funded

+Student numbers will remain low with no improvement in the quality of students attending.+We will not service the needs of all of Orange and Pike County students. +Quality students will, as they are now, go elsewhere--including other community colleges that offer better financial incentives + Students who do come here will continue to focus on working rather than more full realizing their academic potential

Department GoalsImplement an infrastructure and personnel plan based on the program assessment, Improve student retention within courses, from semester to semester, and from year to year.
