Streaming Equipment for New Media

Initiative TitleStreaming Equipment for New Media
Submitted in Previous Year(s)No
Critical Information, Notes, Justification, Rationale

The acquisition of live streaming and digital video production technology for the New Media program ensures that the student learning experience is reinforced for in-person, fully online, and hybrid learning.  Instructors will use the technology to produce video on-demand content while possessing the ability to pivot into a hybrid or hy-flex modality.  A growing demand for distance learning requires our classrooms to possess a level of technological scalability that is transformational.  This transformation compels our instructors to adopt new thinking which will serve the needs of students who seek alternative and adaptive learning experiences.

Consequences of this initiative not being funded

Many institutions like ours have taken steps to modernize their classrooms in order to appeal to this trend and, if we fail to act on this now, students will choose to enroll at other colleges who have successfully transitioned into a new way of learning.

Prioritization Notes

Level 2 (Liberal Arts, AVP Office)

Updating equipment for the New media program is important. AVP is not sure if new streaming equipment is a higher priority than replacing outdated or broken equipment for  the New Media program. There is a dedicated resource that recently became available to upgrade New Media equipment per a comprehensive equipment refresh plan that AVP will ask department to produce.
