Critical Information, Notes, Justification, Rationale

The College has offered online course work for many years.  This was originally administered and supported by the DL coordinator and supported by a faculty member (for training, support, LMS management).  We offer many more DL/virtual courses now and there is only one person training, providing support and administering the MLS system.  There is a strategic initiative to increase online courses as well as strengthen and resources and technology for online learning. This cannot continue to be done by one person.  We need to hire a support person for the program and for faculty with an instructional technology education/training.

Consequences of this initiative not being funded

Academic departments, faculty and students struggling in courses will continue to do so (when support from this person could help better align the course work with OSCQR and UL. It will be difficult to develop and foster a community of quality assurance for the virtual courses. Students will take their virtual courses from someone else in SUNY Online.
