Critical Information, Notes, Justification, Rationale	Carpet Care: Proper cleaning of carpets using spotters, hot water extractors and chemicals. Restroom Cleaning: Refresher classes for best practices in restroom cleaning. Hard Floor Care: How to clean, strip, finish and burnish a VCT, terrazzo, and ceramic tile floor properly, using the correct floor machinery, accessory equipment and chemicals. Initial Introductory custodial care for new employees.
Consequences of this initiative not being funded	The consequences of these training sessions and safety meetings not occurring are less standardized techniques, less quality services from the staff, and a lack of communication where safety matters are concerned.
Department Goals	To provide new training and refresher training in various custodial disciplines, and conduct periodic custodial department safety meetings.

COLLEGE GOALS as of 2011 6. To build and maintain safe, accessible and sustainable facilities that support the learning environment.	The initiative supports this institutional goal by creating a better trained and a more standardized custodial team for providing the best cleaning services that is possible at a busy college campus, one that not only serves the students, but that also serves the entire community at-large.
STRATEGIC PLAN 2015-2020 PRIORITY IV: Efficient and Effective Operations: We will anticipate and adapt to changing economic realities while maintaining the infrastructure and resources necessary to foster innovation and develop & deliver high quality programs and services. d: Foster a collective commitment to comprehensive planning, assessment, and prioritization to ensure institutional effectiveness.	Increase periodic training in various custodial disciplines for department members and, will highlight safety measures that should and must be employed while performing everyday duties at the college campus.
