Critical Information, Notes, Justification, Rationale	In the Fall of 2007 there will be 28 day time classes in Middletown and 7 day time classes in Newburgh being taught by adjunct professors. This is the equivalent of 7 full time positions. This puts a burden on the institution (governance, etc.) and on students (faculty advising and mentoring).
Consequences of this initiative not being funded	1. Students who are paying tutition do not have the access to faculty that full time instructors provide. 2. The soul of the department depends on the full-time cohort to define and implement the college mission and goals.

COLLEGE VIII: To offer students the opportunity to learn with a diverse and highly qualified faculty and staff committed to excellence in teaching and service to students. 3: To maintain and develop full-time faculty and staff and recruit diverse candidates for vacant positions in order to serve the educational needs of students.
MIDDLESTATES Standard10: Faculty c: It is recommended that the college continue its efforts and then expand upon them to attract and retain underrepresented minorities. This may include, but is not limited to, identifying and encouraging Orange County Community College students to pursue higher education and return to Orange County Community College in staff, teaching and administrative roles.
STRATEGIC IV: Review and realign the missions, operations and staffing levels of all Orange County Community College departments in light of the strategic priorities.
