Update and Modification of A.A.S. Degree in Visual Communication

Initiative TitleUpdate and Modification of A.A.S. Degree in Visual Communication
Submitted in Previous Year(s)No
Critical Information, Notes, Justification, RationaleModify and update current A.A.S. Visual Communications Curriculum. This program is currently over 15 years old. Several of the courses in the program are two credit courses at our college, while other schools offer the same courses for three credits, which causes transferrability issues for students. Additionally, this program has several areas which may overlap and coordinate with the newly proposed A.A. Communication/New Media Program which also need to be examined.
Consequences of this initiative not being fundedThe current A.A.S. Visual Communication degree is outdated. We will not be serving the students to the best of our ability without examining the content of this program and revising where necessary.

Prioritization Notes

Level 3 (Academic Affairs and Student Services, Provost, VP Office)

My understanding is that PBIE/PIP is not to be used for personnel decisions, and the bulk of the expense with this item is a new tenure-track faculty position.
