Critical Information, Notes, Justification, Rationale	This initiative is being done in conjunction with the Department of Mathematics. Experience has demonstrated that periodic hardware replacement is essential to the objectives of the computer lab. The last time computers were replaced was 2002. This lab is used all day, every day. In this open lab it is not an exaggeration to say that every machine is in constant use. Further the acceleration of software development very often requires parallel hardware development in order to run
Consequences of this initiative not being funded	1. Machines will malfunction in the middle of student use placing undo burdens on the IT department. 2. Current software will net be matched to the capabilities of the machines. 3. the trickle down stream of computers onto faculty desks will be affected. 4. the number of students serviced will decrease.

MIDDLESTATES Standard 3: Institutional Resources f: While a technology infrastructure is in place, it is aging and inadequate for innovative learning applications and a robust administrative information system. With the appointment of the Associate Vice President of Technology, the college should begin the development of a technology plan to address the mission-critical areas of network support, database functionality, integration of staff and services, and life cycle management of computers across the college.
STRATEGIC I: Develop and implement an Academic Master Plan that guides the renewal of current programs and services, the development of new programs and services, and formulizes the allocation of resources effectively.
AMP D: Technology a: Upgrade computer labs and relevant equipment on a consistent three-year cycle
