Critical Information, Notes, Justification, RationaleIt is important to remain up to date with the emerging trends in OT and provide equipment and practice opportunities for students as part of the educational process. This includes evaluating current equipment for wear and tear and possible replacement; ordering new equipment to remain current with emerging trends. Present computer equipment utilized in the OTA Lab is seriously outdated. It is not possible to operate current state of the art computerized learning programs. These programs are therapeutic interventions utilized in OT practice areas to assist clients in developing skills and abilities to function independently. Students are not prepared to utilize the equipment/programs that are being utilized in rehab facilities in which they complete the 4th semester of full-time fieldwork The OTA National Certification Exam is now administered solely via computer access. With outdated equipment that does not support certification study guides, it is not possible to assist students as fully as possible in preparation for this exam.

Prioritization Notes

Level 4 (PBIE Committee)

Present computer equipment utilized in the OTA Lab is outdated which makes it extremely difficult to operate current computerized learning programs. As a result, students are not prepared to use the equipment/programs they are expected to when completing their 4th semester fieldwork in rehab facilities. In addition, the OTA National Certification Exam is now administered solely via computer access. With outdated equipment that does not support certification study guides, it is not possible to assist students as fully as possible in preparation for this exam.
