Critical Information, Notes, Justification, Rationale	To meet dire instructional needs of the Department created by : 1. Increased student demand (student contact hours per semester has increased more than twofold since 2000). 2. Increased course offerings at NEC( Increased sections of Introduction to Biology, Diversity of Life, Nutrition, and - soon - Biology for Today and A & P I, II) 3. Constraints placed by the "720" (student contact hours/year) and the "240" (student head count/year) loading provisions of the new faculty contract.
Consequences of this initiative not being funded	Limitations on course offerings, increased dependence on adjuncts, lowered faculty morale and decreased academic quality of the Biology Program. This will also impact the proposed development of new courses (Ecology, Nutrition-DL) within the Department as well as impede development of Health Profession Programs at Newburgh.

COLLEGE I: To provide courses in the arts, sciences, health professions, humanities, business and technology at the level of Associate degree programs, certificates, training and developmental programs to meet student needs for further education, employment and personal growth. 2: To provide appropriate credit and non-credit programs to satisfy changing Orange County needs and demographics.
COLLEGE I: To provide courses in the arts, sciences, health professions, humanities, business and technology at the level of Associate degree programs, certificates, training and developmental programs to meet student needs for further education, employment and personal growth. 3: To provide increased access to upper-division programs for graduates.
COLLEGE III: To implement technological delivery systems in Academic, Student and Administrative Services. 3: To continue to enable technological improvements in academic advising, in registration, in keeping track of student progress, and in financial aid processing, while maintaining personal interactions between students and college personnel.
COLLEGE VI: To provide access for a diverse student population. 2: To increase the use of the College among populations which are traditionally under served.
STRATEGIC I: Develop and implement an Academic Master Plan that guides the renewal of current programs and services, the development of new programs and services, and formulizes the allocation of resources effectively.
AMP II: Curriculum Change/Program Design b: Ensure an inclusion of the cultural arts, diversity, critical thinking, communication skills, information literacy etc. within the curriculum and programming for the community
