Critical Information, Notes, Justification, Rationale	Regularly offering five different courses in political science, there is currently no full time person teaching in this field. Given the importance of the discipline to Global studies, the International Studies program, and the college, a new full-time tenure track faculty in political science is greatly needed. Furthermore, the department hopes to begin a certificate program in Public Administration. A new hire could deal with those courses and oversee the certificate.
Consequences of this initiative not being funded	Adjuncts will continue to teach in the field. Currently, the college has few adjunct faculty with political science training. This field is underrepresented in the department and needs to be enhanced, also fits in well with intl initiaitve.

COLLEGE I: To provide courses in the arts, sciences, health professions, humanities, business and technology at the level of Associate degree programs, certificates, training and developmental programs to meet student needs for further education, employment and personal growth. 2: To provide appropriate credit and non-credit programs to satisfy changing Orange County needs and demographics.
COLLEGE II: To offer a broad program of general education so that students learn to communicate and reason effectively; make independent judgments; and develop an appreciation for learning, a respect for diverse cultures and individuals and a desire for self and societal improvement. 1: To increase learning activities beyond the classroom for students including international studies.
STRATEGIC I: Develop and implement an Academic Master Plan that guides the renewal of current programs and services, the development of new programs and services, and formulizes the allocation of resources effectively.
