Critical Information, Notes, Justification, Rationale	During the Spring Semester 2009, the PTA Program had the opportunity to purchase a portion of the Vectra Genisys Combination Unit. The components purchased were; multiple waveform electrotherapy, dual frequency ultrasound, EMG, combination electrotherapy, and EMG activated stimulation. Vectra Genisys Laser can be purchased separately as this unit is modular and can be added upon. It will provide educational opportunities for our students in three light treatment options (SLD, light therapy, and cold laser). Currently we do not maintain any equipment that can deliver this form of treatment/education. * By purchasing this combination unit over the course of a two year period, it has allowed for improved budgetting while at the same time allowing for continued upgrades to our current technology (a necessity of our accreditation process). * Additionally, this unit provides state of the art treatment options - on-board patient data management, operator remote controls, both anatomical and pathological libraries and easily added to the combination system's cart for portability. * These devices will maintain our ability to compete with other colleges in our ability to offer up to the minute PTA educational opportunities.
Consequences of this initiative not being funded	Entry level students will not have previous experience with working with this type of equipment and therefore be less prepared for the clinical experience.

COLLEGE I: To provide courses in the arts, sciences, health professions, humanities, business and technology at the level of Associate degree programs, certificates, training and developmental programs to meet student needs for further education, employment and personal growth. 6: To assess classroom support and technology needs on a departmental basis and implement the necessary classroom upgrades in a coordinated manner.
MIDDLESTATES Standard13: Related Educational Activities a: Developmental student learning is very important for the success of under-prepared students. As the college does not utilize consistent, student-specific data on the progress of these students, appropriate resources should be made available to assist the Developmental Education Program in tracking the progress of students and assessing their success after completion of developmental courses. Adequate software, and qualified and sufficient staffing to effectively and efficiently utilize it, should be available to gather important data about the progress of students.
