For the 2017-18 academic year, it is extremely important that the college select a competent department chair to replace the retiring department chair. As with all health professions, it is very important that the college continue to provide updated resources and equipment for the medical laboratory technician students, microbiology students and phlebotomy students to be successful in their professions. Technical assistance is required to maintain laboratory spaces and to set-up/breakdown laboratory exercises, maintain equipment and order necessary supplies.

Department Goals

Specific things the department wishes to achieve or accomplish this academic year.

1 Hire a competent department chair to maintain accreditation requirements, maintain the daily departmental needs and supervise the department faculty and staff.
2 Continue to purchase Medical laboratory equipment to support and update the Medical Laboratory Technician and Phlebotomy Programs.
3 Modernize Clinical Laboratory Science Department laboratory spaces in accordance with the facilities master plan.
4 Continue to investigate possible clinical sites for the Medical Laboratory Technician and Phlebotomy programs.
5 Hire a part time technical assistant to support the Newburgh Microbiology labs and to assist the current technical assistant with support of the Middletown Clinical Laboratory Science Department Laboratory offerings
6 Investigate alternatives to formal clinical training sites such as simulation , learning modules and enrichment websites.
7 Continue to update the Clinical Laboratory Science webpage.
