The goals listed below stem from and respond to three conditions:

1) Focus areas as identified by the academic departments within the Liberal Arts Division. The following themes emerged from departmental plans: programmatic equipment and classroom facilities; curricular evolution and development; support for internships and field placement; support aimed at increasing student success.

2) Larger college-wide or SUNY-wide initiatives. The following larger initiatives are and will continue to impact activities within the Liberal Arts Division: implementation of and execution of ideas generated through SOEx work (e.g. operationalizing use of program maps, strategic scheduling, advising within Communities, etc.); forthcoming SUNY-wide General Education reform or changes; forthcoming Middle States self-study (which requires proof of ongoing assessment). 

3) An AVP-driven concern regarding our readiness and responsiveness to prepare students for emerging careers related to sustainability.

Department Goals

Specific things the department wishes to achieve or accomplish this academic year.

1 Respond to academic equipment needs to ensure currency of instruction.
2 Support division-wide adoption and implementation of program map usage for academic, transfer and career advising within Communities.
3 Support strategically planned scheduling adjustment based on data and student need.
4 Ensure that student success and engagement activities are supported.
5 Support curricular innovation, evolution and development.
6 As resources allow, respond to academic department-identified needs for classroom upgrades to ensure effective, modern learning environments.
7 Review AA Liberal Arts - Humanities & Social Science degree program in light of forthcoming SUNY General Education review (and potential reforms).
8 Collaborate across areas of the college to ensure that students who need internships, field placements, etc. are supported.
