The Physical Therapist Assistant Department's focus for the upcoming academic year will be the successful completion of their ten year accreditation cycle.  The PTA Department will be submitting the Self-Study in the Summer 2018 with the subsequent Site Visit at the end of October 2018. To insure successful completion, the Department will remain focused on the replacement of outdated equipment, purchase of newly accepted forms of equipment, and will remain updated and current in the teaching and application of physical therapy. In addition, the Department will be pursuing the potential to search and hire a third full time faculty member to replace the faculty member who retired in the Fall 2016.

Specific things the department wishes to achieve or accomplish this academic year.

1 Complete the request for and obtain approval of a fulltime replacement faculty member as well as hiring of same with this planning and budgeting cycle.
2 Obtain funding and purchase additional equipment to maintain both Accreditation Standards and local industry standards through e college/program budgets and the pursuit of CTEA Grant funding
3 Pursue assessment activities at the Program and Student levels as they relate to Accreditation
4 Revise and enhance the Admissions processes for entrance into the PTA Program.
5 Develop and hold two Continuing Education courses for local therapeutic community at large and an annual review course for graduating students.
6 Continue to promote the development and use of all PTA Program courses and final examinations where applicable.
7 Establish/complete/revise articulation agreements with college(s) offering the Doctorate in Physical Therapy.
8 Program director will attend and be successful in the remainder of nine credits of coursework addressing educational foundations as most recently required by the Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education.
