Student Services Central (SSC) provides current and prospective students with centralized enrollment services and functions as the customer service area representing Admissions, Financial Aid, Registrar, and Student Accounts. SSC also provides support for Academic Advising, the Business Office, CAPE, OAS, and the Wellness Center.  SSC has a location on both campuses, and in Middletown includes a Welcome Desk.

For AY1920, our goal was to stabilize and increase staffing back to full capacity, and thereby decrease wait times and improve customer service. In AY 1920 we did achieve the staffing goal of hiring another Enrollment Specialist for Middletown. However, that individual was recently promoted to a Lead Enrollment Specialist in Newburgh Student Services Central, and thereby creating a vacancy in Middletown.  Due to the college’s current budget deficit, the vacant position in Middletown will not be replaced at this time. Therefore, a critical goal for AY2021 will be to replace the now vacant Enrollment Specialist position in Middletown to bring us back to full staffing.

Communicating and collaborating with other departments remains a central focus for SSC and critical to our role of providing accurate and efficient customer service.  We work closely with other departments and hold regular meetings and training sessions to ensure that the SSC is knowledgeable and cross trained appropriately.  

We also rely on student feedback and assessment data to determine in which areas we need to make improvements.  Currently we administer a monthly survey to students.  However, we expect to transition to a new and improved student queuing system in 2020, which will allow students with an opportunity to give feedback via text immediately following their visit to SSC. These timely responses from students will provide us with much more accurate data.

2 Improve accuracy and efficiency and minimize error rate in our processes.
3 Maintain regular communication and collaboration with other enrollment services departments to continue to improve services provided to students, and the overall student experience.
4 To support and maintain the professional development for all SSC staff including campus-based trainings, conference participation, and access to leadership/personal development resources.
