Dedicated Testing Center in Newburgh

Initiative TitleDedicated Testing Center in Newburgh
Submitted in Previous Year(s)2019
Critical Information, Notes, Justification, Rationale

On the Middletown campus, we have a computer lab that is dedicated solely for the purposes of testing.  It is not used for instruction.  In Newburgh, we use Kaplan 233 and 231 for testing, which are also used for many other purposes on campus.  We have had issues in the past with browser and/or computer requirements of the particular tests that we administer.  Due to a decision made to eliminate access to INB Banner in all classrooms, we are no longer able to pull up student information on the computers in the room and must use a laptop specifically for this purpose.  It would be much easier all around if we had a room in Kaplan Hall that was dedicated for testing, where we could store our materials and customize to the needs of testing.

Consequences of this initiative not being funded

The testing process in Newburgh is not always as smooth as it is in Middletown.  Having different setups at each location leads to differences in the way tests are administered at each campus and disparities in the student experience.

Department GoalsTest candidates (students) will have ease of access to tests offered in the Test Center., The test center environment will be conducive to maintaining the integrity of the test administered and to providing optimal physical test taking conditions for test candidates., The Test Center will provide efficient and accurate reporting of test results within the specified time frame for each test.
