Critical Information, Notes, Justification, Rationale

Adding more student study rooms would benefit students and accommodate their various study habits. This initiative would provide study rooms to students using different modes, dependent on construction materials and methods. The least intrusive options are modular prefabricated rooms that can accommodate 1 to 4 students are available for purchase and set up. Most intrusive option would be to set up floor to ceiling walls and doors. In between these are partitions that allow for free standing walls up to 6 feet tall.

The prefabricated room option costs $5,999 for a single occupancy room and $9,999 for a room that 4 students can occupy. Assembly and installation would be by maintenance staff.

Free standing “L” shaped partitions are available for $1,092 for each set. The proposed location in the library would be for three partitions. Extra panels would be required to finish off the installation.

Consequences of this initiative not being funded
