Middletown: The Middletown campus library provides a variety of student work spaces as part of its goal of Goal 4 to “create a friendly, safe and supportive virtual and physical environment with trained staff and state-of-the-art equipment and facilities to support the research process.” The library’s three student study rooms are popular and get multiple uses each day. In October of 2022 students reserved the study rooms 75 different times for the 21 days the college was open. Objective #3 of the Academic Master Plan for The Student Experience is to “enhance academic support and services by effectively utilizing equipment, facilities, personnel, and technology to meet our students’ needs.” The library and facilities staff keep the library operating in a safe and clean manner. This initiative is to increase availability of individual study rooms through additional furniture and partitions.
Newburgh: The library’s Goal 2 is “Provide an effective program of Library Instruction where students will learn the methods and processes necessary to effectively carry out research for scholarly purposes and the pursuit of life-long learning.” Scheduling the computer labs in the Newburgh campus can be difficult. Objective #2 of the Academic Master Plan for Preparation and Success is “develop and implement ongoing academic support for continuing students.” Strategy 6 is to “Provide appropriate teaching / learning technologies and faculty training to ensure confidence and enthusiasm for accelerating developmental education.” This initiative is to increase flexibility to accommodate more library instruction in the Newburgh campus library.
