Initiative Title | Rewrite job description and hire Coordinator role and Assistant Director Role |
---|---|
Submitted in Previous Year(s) | No |
Critical Information, Notes, Justification, Rationale | After the retirement of the previous Director of CSI, the Coordinator filled that role and the Coordinator position was never filled. After 3 years in the coordinator role, and a year in the Director role, the current Director feels it is time to revisit the coordinator role and rewrite the description to more appropriately fill the needs of student involvement on campus. Additionally the staffing structure of our office has to be looked at and an added assistant director role would accommodate job responsibilities that have fallen under different staffing titles in nontraditional ways to ensure our office can serve the students. To avoid staff having to work inappropriately outside of their job descriptions, hiring both these roles and reviewing and updating job descriptions would be the right fit for CSI. |
Consequences of this initiative not being funded | CSI staff will not be able to accommodate the needs of student involvement, including meeting other goals of expanding clubs and streamlining processes to increase involvement on campus, thereby increasing recruitment and retention of students. New programs and growth will be difficult and near impossible without the staff to accommodate these new initiatives and programs. |
Department Goals | Restructure Center for Student Involvement staff/personnel including a new job description and replacement for the Coordinator role and adding an Assistant Director role to meet the needs of our students. |

Goal | How will the initiative support this institutional goal? |
---|---|
|
With more staff to assist students, we will be more accessible to students wishing to get involved, start a club, find a sense of belonging. A larger team will give us more time to provide individualized attention to students seeking involvement and to us sharing information about involvement opportunities. |
|
New knowledge on our team will help us to meet this goal. Growing our team means growing our ability to advance our office technologically and physically to better meet the needs of our students and streamline policies and procedures that will make involvement more inviting and accessible. |
|
Increased staffing will allow us to better serve our student population, give more personal attention to each club and organization, and increase our recruitment efforts to grow the quantity and quality of clubs on campus. |
|
Increased staff will help us to spread CSI's involvement in governance potentially on committees and our collaboration with campus partners |
