Critical Information, Notes, Justification, Rationale

To embrace the "community" system on campus as part of the Guided Pathways (Prospero Grant), the Business Department is planning a series of community-building events.  These can be held in conjunction with the Week of Welcome and to help promote and build identity for events and social media (IG) on campus. It will be a multi-pronged approach to foster community among the students and faculty.

Possible events and initiatives

  • Targeted in-class announcements, Brightspace announcements, and Banner Communication Module emails to explain the community and the "open" approach to advising that is utilized in the Business Department.
  • Lunch with your faculty - host a series of lunches where students can meet, connect, and socialize with their faculty.  Can include some prize giveaway contests.
  • Spirit Day - all students and faculty will be encourage to wear their Business community t-shirts or Business club t-shirts to show their support for our community.
  • Guess the Professor - the display case will have childhood photos of their professors and the students can guess who is who.  There will be prizes for the most correct guesses.
  • Instagram contests - students will be encourage to post pictures of themselves in their Business Community t-shirts, or with a decorated pumpkin, or at their job, etc.  with  hashtag. Prizes can be awarded.
  • Speaker, career or alumni panels. Can include lunch and prizes.
