The mission of the Office of Accessibility Services (OAS), at SUNY Orange, is to provide equal access and opportunity to qualified students with disabilities. Our goal is to increase awareness of disability issues and provide opportunities for students with disabilities to fully integrate into the SUNY Orange community. OAS strives to ensure technological access for individuals with disabilities.

  1. Continue to provide effective accommodations for disabilities based on law and/or current best practices.
  2. Continue to use technology and data driven tools to streamline our services to effectively and efficiently serve students while they pursue their academic goals
  3. Provide education and consultation to the campus community about disability issues.
  4. Continue to secure funding via grants.

1 Technology – Continue to explore, introduce and utilize technology designed to improve operations, enhance communication, streamline service, and increase productivity and efficiency.
2 Continue to seek funding from outside resources to enhance and update our assistive technology.
3 Conduct a Needs Assessments to determine the need for additional services and to identify the gaps within services.
4 Continue to provide services to help increase student retention, completion, transfer and employment readiness to students with documented disabilities.
5 Continue to collaborate with faculty regarding academic accommodations and exam services for students with disabilities under the auspices of the Office of Accessibility Services.
6 Continue to offer student orientation to the most academically as-risk population over the summer.
7 Create a Director of OAS position.
