On the basis of on-going assessment and with the current infrastructure and resource difficulties, we believe that all of of our previously submitted goals and initiatives still apply.  Our difficulties remain the same or have been exacerbated: decreasing retention, continuous facilities problems, not meeting the needs of students in Middletown and particularly Newburgh, monetary difficulties, etc.  We understand this goes well beyond the scope of the program: many of the issues are College-wide.

While we committed to offering stand alone classes in Newburgh to reduce tall of the problems that result from using ITV format, whether this is sustainable with declining enrollment remains a concern.

We still feel we have two realistic options: a) reduce the size of the program to fit what we currently have and refocus more appropriately, or b) again request the infrastructure and support needed to recruit, accommodate and retain larger numbers of students.  We believe that at this point in time, the first option is more sustainable.

We remain thankful to departments and the College in general for continuing to provide honors courses and some resources.
