The newly formed division of Learning and Student Success (LSS), within the Office of Academic Affairs, will engage in college-wide conversations, collaborations, and activities focused on expanding and enriching academic support opportunities for SUNY Orange students. The current and future collaborations among the departments within the division will maximize their collective impact on both our students as well as our college faculty and staff members who support our students. Together, the units within the LSS Division, including Academic Support, Academic Technology, Cultural Affairs, Center for Teaching and Learning, Office of Educational Partnerships, and the Library, have a tremendous responsibility and opportunity to reshape the current and future experiences of a SUNY Orange student.

Upon review of the LSS department narratives, goals and initiatives, a number of themes for the 2018-19 academic year emerged. However, the primary theme with respect to learning and student success centered on the need for an upgraded and enhanced student experience through at least one of the following: 1) the integration of a specific software or technology to create a more efficient, user friendly, and academically supportive environment, 2) the expansion of current services built upon a foundation of exceptional customer service and a “student-first” mentality, 3) a more culturally rich and expansive program of activities , and 4) an increase in professional development opportunities for faculty and staff both on and off campus to support the growing needs of the student body..
