2014 - 2015 Alumni Relations and Special Events Plan

A general statement (narrative) about what the department wants to accomplish.

For over 60 years, alumni have played a significant role in the defining and shaping of Orange County Community College. As the first county-sponsored community college in the State of New York, SUNY Orange has a long and proud tradition of alumni and community involvement. The alumni relations and special events objective is to continually improve a defined alumni relationship building and engagement process that brings mutual joy, pride and satisfaction to both present and future alumni. A vibrant alumni relations program is one in which graduates are engaged and supporting the college to the full extent of their ability, through both their time and personal resources.

Department Goals

Specific things the department wishes to achieve or accomplish this academic year.

1	Ensure alumni relations and special events are organized in a professional manner and improvements made where needed.
2	Actively meet and engage alumni through outreach events to identify volunteers, internship possibilities, admissions ambassadors and potential donors.
3	In coordination with the Director of Admissions develop a program that promotes SUNY Orange as the primary educational option of family members of alumni. Train alumni volunteers who are willing to visit area high schools with an admissions officer.
4	In coordination with the Office of Career and Internship Services identify alumni who can provide meaningful internship and mentoring opportunities. Train alumni volunteers on best practices in mentoring and providing internships for students.
5	Continue to expand and develop our communications with our alumni through appropriate social networks, mail and e-mail coorespondence.
6	Establish a set structure and campaign for alumni annual giving with the AVP and Coordinator of Resource Development.
7	Continue to maintain and update Raisers Edge database with current and past alumni information.
8	Pin all graduates with alumni pins at commencement, distribute materials and provide an alumni speaker at commencement rehearsal. Capture student email addresses before students graduate.
