As the College explores implementation of a Guided Pathways model, the English Department is introducing and will be scaling up an co-requisite course offering for Freshman English 1 which will make it possible for students who place in the higher range of developmental course work to work on the necessary skills and at the same time, earn credit for ENG 101.  The Department also intends to present a curriculum proposal for an Integrated Reading and Writing 1, 4-credit course, to accelerate progression through the lower levels of developmental course work.  This will involve increased technological support, continued communication/collaboration with other departments, and increased staffing.  Additional professional development will also be on-going as we work toward these goals.
