Upon review of plans from academic departments in the Liberal Arts Division, several themes that will require resources have emerged: improving facilities; professional development associated with SUNY Orange Experience work and other department-based changes (e.g. advising and collaborations between academic disciplines and English Department); supporting and showcasing student work and providing opportunities to learn beyond the classroom by exposing students to opportunities beyond our campuses; ongoing challenges of keeping up with changing technologies;Ā
There are also some areas that were identified in academic departmental plans that will not require financial resources but will need to employ professional ingenuity and human resources to achieve: maintaining curricular currency and excellence; programmatic development and evolution; assessment of student learning; some aspects of implementing SUNY Orange Experience changes such as managing student cohorts; using academic technology to enhance pedagogy andĀ strengthening partnerships.
Other division-wide areas of change and innovation (some that will require resources and some that will not) include: training and utilization of technology that will seamlessly and effectively connect multiple campuses; embracing OER culture; making scheduling shifts as a result of SUNY Orange Experience work and that accommodate accelerated and virtualized learning; facilities upgrades that support learning and telegraph the right messages about teaching and learning; providing opportunities for students to apply and contextualize learning and apply written, verbal and other communication skills.
